Sunset Sentinel – Personal-use Digital Download

As the sun drops behind Newhaven Lighthouse, the final light of the day turns the horizon into a deep wash of red and gold. The lighthouse stands almost entirely in silhouette, solid and unmoving against the huge glowing sun behind it. Sunset Sentinel captures that brief point between day and night when the Sussex coast seems to quieten and the familiar becomes something more dramatic. There is a strong sense of stillness in the image, but also permanence — the lighthouse holding its position while the light, sea and sky continually change around it. On a wall, the bold silhouette and extraordinary sunset create an immediate focal point without overwhelming the room. Created from an original photograph by Sharon Maskery for Sussex Sea & Sky, this is a real moment photographed at Newhaven — natural coastal light, captured as it happened. For anyone drawn to the sea, Sussex or the particular calm that comes at the end of the day, Sunset Sentinel offers a little of that moment to bring home.
