Dark storm clouds above an orange sunset reflected in still water on the Sussex coast – photograph by Sharon Maskery

A darkening sky moves across the Sussex coast as the final light of sunset breaks beneath it, setting the horizon ablaze in orange and gold. Below, the still water catches the scene almost perfectly, reflecting both the warmth of the fading sun and the deep blue of the approaching cloud.

It is a photograph built around contrast — light against darkness, movement against stillness, and the brief calm that exists between one moment and the next. The reflection gives the scene an almost symmetrical quality, while the distant coastline anchors it unmistakably to Sussex.

Captured by Sussex photographer Sharon Maskery, this is a genuine photographic moment rather than an AI-generated scene. The colours and tonal detail have been carefully developed from the original photograph to preserve the atmosphere and character of what was captured.

Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a museum-quality fine art paper with a soft texture and matt finish, Where Storm Meets Sunset is designed as a statement piece for spaces where colour, atmosphere and a sense of calm are wanted.
